At just 18 years old, Keisha White is well on her way to becoming Britain’s youngest diva. With her unique voice, mouth-watering beauty and colourful personality, this bright young talent looks set for international stardom. MANICFM caught up with the lady herself for a quick natter about steam therapy, Dr Dre and Wales…
How did you get into singing?
I’ve always been able to sing. I started taking it seriously when I was about thirteen. Music has always been in my household so it’s a part of me. Things really began to heat up at fifteen when I entered a talent competition and won. It gave me the confidence to dedicate my life to singing.
Who are your main inspirations?
It varies. Alicia Keys, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker…all the old-time divas.
What other UK artists are you feeling?
There’s so many. Lethal B, Crazy Titch, Sway, Terri Walker, Estelle…I could go on forever! Lemar’s great too. He’s a real talent.
If you could endorse any product what would it be?
Something to do with beauty. People need to pamper themselves a bit more! It would probably have to be something like bath salts or steam therapy. Everybody should dedicate at least five minutes a day to themselves.
Who would you like to collaborate with?
Dr Dre! I love him. He’s an absolute legend. That would be a dream. If you’re reading Mr Dre…holla!
What is your ultimate aim music-wise?
Just to sing. Forget the money, forget the fame…I live and breathe music. It’s why I get up every morning.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like chilling out with my friends. I’ve got a baby sister so I enjoy spending time with her too. The same as what everybody else does I guess. I visit my local pub a lot. I love baileys! And not forgeting listening to ManicFM.
Do you have any advice for singers starting out in the game?
Believe in yourself. Practice makes perfect. Nothing comes to you for free so put in the work and you’ll make it. Do anything to get yourself heard. Talent shows, Pop Idol, karaoke…just do it!
Can Keisha White achieve success in America?
Of course but I’ve got my eyes on more than that. I want to be big everywhere…Japan, Germany even Wales. You name it, I wanna be big!
