Interview Questions for Nightwalker
Q1. How did your get in to Drum N Bass production and who were your
first influences?
It would take me an hour to sit and write how i got into it but to cut a long story short when i was 15 i met someone who taught me cubase for 3 years then after that the rest is history.... i didnt really have any influences in specific i just liked a bit of everything from everywhere.
Q2. Your sound is completely original how would you describe it?
Hard, Dancefloor, Dark Jumpup Mashup all in one.
Q3. You’re still fairly young, what would you like to achieve within this industry?
Ive already achieved what i wanted to since i was 16... which was to one day have a release on True Playaz... and now ive got that i think i need to work on my dj'ing side more now.
Q4. Please describe your production set up?
Sony Vaio P4 2.8ghz 512 ram laptop, Behringer Truth B2031 monitors... then software wise Fruityloops is my sequencer of choice, and editing programs i use include Soundforge, Cool Edit Pro, and Wavelab.
Q5. You have just toured America, how is the drum n bass scene out there?
Its still got a good vibe the same as alot of places here but they like dnb a bit harder as opposed to here.... here all the wobbly stuff has mass dance floor appeal... over there its hard dark jump up which they like.
Q6. What are you currently working on at the moment?
Im STILL doing my flip for Jupiter on Timeless ( sorry Digital !! ), gonna be doing a true playaz remix aswell as more tunes for them, im remixing a friends tune to start off his new label aswell called Type New Music and the tune im remixing is called Jawbreaker, the rest of the things are top secret at the moment but you'll find out in due time !!!
Q7. What tunes and producers are you feeling at the moment?
To be honest at the moment there’s not alot which is hitting the spot for me... some of my fav producers at the moment are :- Twisted, G-Dub, Phantasy & Shodan, Hazard, Garon, Rawtee, Zen... i know that list looks really wobbly but to be honest all the dark hard lot haven’t been putting out any good tunes !!!
Q8. Who would you still like to work with in the scene?
I don’t really get along too great working with other people on tunes... but i wanna work with Twisted on some tunes and it is gonna happen soon so watch this space.
Q9. You DJ on an Internet radio station, how important to you is to play regularly?
I wouldn’t say its really 'important' but it gives you a chance to show off your latest tunes and stuff etc so it is fun sometimes.
Q10. Have you any tips for the aspiring producers out there?
Yeah... dont bother sending demo's to labels it wont work... wait till your tunes are good enough to hand to dj's who have connections with the labels and get them to pass it to labels. i got into all this the hard way and don’t want to see people take the same route.. thats why i tell people to send me tunes because i'll actually listen to them and not just sling them in a bin.. and if i think they're good enough then i can pass the tunes onto the relevant people to see if they wanna sign them.
Anyone you would like to big up?
First person I’ve got to shout is my lovely girlfriend Aliina who helps me alot with stuff, Hype, Pascal, Digital, Twisted, Zen, G-Dub, Shodan, Anscenic, Speed, and all the other producers out there who send me tuneage! I haven’t forgotten about you know who you are!!
